Love this umbrella! Was thrilled to find it at Amazon since Lowe's has discontinued this item. First one we bought at Lowe's 4 years ago and had to replace it this year after crank mechanism broke. Very good construction, much better than product offered at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Very dissappointing product & company

We purchased this umbrella last fall, during end-of-season sales. Because of this, the first time we actually used the umbrella was late March of this year. The umbrella was up for less than two hours before its pole bent. I checked the weather for that day, and the strongest the wind gust was 4 mph. That should certainly not be enough wind to cause a pole to fail.
We contacted the company (Southern Patio) directly, because a paper insert in the box indicated that we should do so instead of contacting Amazon. The result of our email to them was a three-week run around. In the end, they claim that the product was outside of the 90-day warranty, and thus they are not responsible.
I would strongly recommend against purchasing products from this vendor. I would give no stars if possible, based on their woeful customer service. There are plenty of other vendors out there at this price point, and I would encourage customers to try a competitor instead. We'll be buying a replacement from Lowe's here in town, but I wanted to share our experience so that others can avoid a similar situation. |
Love the lights!

I received it promptly and have been waiting for the weather to improve to put it on the deck. I haven't actually used it yet but we did put it up a few days ago. You will have to wait the recommended amount of time for the batteries to charge the lights but they will turn on for you to see how they work. I like the ease of turning them on and off with the two separate switches for the lights on the pole and the lights under the umbrella. There was a little rust on the pulley probably due to dampness in storage. There was also a nick on the plastic of the solar panel looks like the box had been handled roughly. I don't think the panel is damaged, but will update the review if there is a problem. One scratch on the pole looks like whom ever assembled it scratched it with a tool. None of these things were bad enough for me to bother sending back. Hopefully everything else will work fine! The sage green is more of a yellowish green. I'd say kind of pea green. At first I didn't think I'd like it but after opening it up outside I like it fine. As long as everything works as promised I think it will be a great deal!

I bought this umbrella for my parent's patio as a gift. They really wanted a little ambient light for eating, visiting, etc. and this umbrella is perfect! It arrived nicely boxed and in good condition. It fit well into their existing umbrella stand although they did have to shim around the hole of their table as it was a little larger than the circumference of the pole. The umbrella is stable and provides the light they were looking for. The additional ring of lights in the center gives them the option to provide even more light for cards or reading. Overall, a big hit!

I love this umbrella! The size is just right and the crank handle is easy to use. I would have preferred a dark green color but the sage is nice, unoffensive, and goes with just about everything. The solar lights are fabulous. You can choose to turn on the bigger center light or the lights on the spokes or both at once. A lot of umbrellas I looked at had either the center light or the spoke lights, not both. The switch is in a good location, easy to use. The packing is even good. We ordered one of these umbrellas before from another source but accidentally threw away the solar panel that goes on top of the umbrella. Lots of people must have missed the panel because the umbrella is now packaged with a big brightly colored warning paper telling you to look at the bottom of the box. The price is very competitive.
