How do you get squirrels from coming on your patio and messing up your plants?

This little pain in the rear squirrel comes up on my patio and is killing my plants. Is there any humane way to get this critter from screwing up my plants? I live on the 2nd floor and we have a stucco way, and he likes to climb the walls to go from patio to patio.
