If you live in the northeast of the U.S., on which side of your house is your porch / patio / deck located?

We are planning on building a new house and are trying to figure out the best location for these areas. Our house will have an east-west orientation to use passive solar building principles. The prevailing wind is from the west, but occasional north winds are cold. So, where are yours located and how does this work out for you?
